Possible Causes
Undervoltage from wall outlet, Loose power cord connection inside unit, Failing power supply section on control board, Damaged line filter or surge components
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect the air fryer from power before opening the housing.
External checks:
- Test the wall outlet with another appliance or a plug-in tester to confirm proper voltage and grounding.
- Avoid using long or undersized extension cords; plug the air fryer directly into a properly grounded outlet.
Internal checks:
- Remove the housing to access the power cord entry and control board.
- Inspect the power cord strain relief and internal connections. Tighten any loose terminal screws or spade connectors.
- Examine the control board for burnt components, cracked solder joints, or bulging capacitors in the low-voltage power supply section.
- If the cord is damaged (nicks, cuts, melted insulation), replace it with a Whirlpool-approved power cord assembly.
- If visible board damage is present or E5 persists despite good supply voltage and cord, replace the main control board.
