Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug before opening the housing.
Steps:
- Identify source: Run the unit briefly (with cover on) and listen to locate the general area of the noise (top, side, rear). Then unplug and open that area.
- Secure components: On the main board, gently press on transformers or inductors and add insulating pads or tighten mounting screws if they are loose.
- Check relays: Inspect relays for signs of arcing or heat damage.
If the noise comes from the fan motor and is accompanied by rough rotation, replace the fan motor. If from the main board and associated with erratic operation, replace the main control board.
