Air fryer stops heating mid-cycle and displays E2; fan may still run but no heat is produced.
Safety Warning
This repair may involve working with high voltage components or water connections. Always unplug the appliance before removing any panels.
If you are not confident in your ability to perform this repair safely, we strongly recommend contacting a professional technician.
Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the air fryer and allow it to cool for at least 30 minutes. Internal components and the heating element can remain hot.
Initial checks:
- Check ventilation: Ensure the air fryer is used on a hard, flat surface with at least 10 cm clearance on all sides and above. Clear any obstructions from the rear and bottom vents.
- Clean the air paths: Remove the basket and drawer. Clean grease and food debris from the basket, drawer, and especially the top mesh guard near the heater. Clogged grease can trap heat and trigger over-temperature protection.
- Inspect the thermal fuse and thermostat: Remove the top cover to access the heater assembly. Xiaomi air fryers typically have a thermal fuse and/or a bimetal thermostat clipped to the heater bracket or cavity wall. Look for a small cylindrical fuse wrapped in heat-resistant sleeve and a disc-shaped thermostat.
- Continuity test (for experienced users): With the unit unplugged, disconnect one lead of the thermal fuse and test for continuity with a multimeter. No continuity indicates a blown fuse. Similarly, test the bimetal thermostat at room temperature; it should show continuity when cool.
- Check for signs of overheating: Look for discoloration, melted insulation, or burnt smell around the heater and wiring. This may indicate chronic overheating due to blocked airflow or overloading.
Corrective actions:
- If the thermal fuse is blown, do not bypass it. Replace it with the same temperature and current rating part.
- If the bimetal thermostat is stuck open or deformed, replace it.
- After replacing components, thoroughly clean the unit and ensure proper ventilation before testing.
If E2 persists after replacing the thermal protection components and ensuring good airflow, the main control board may be falsely detecting over-temperature and should be evaluated or replaced by a professional.
