Safety first: Unplug the air fryer before inspecting internal switches.
Basic checks:
- Confirm basket is fully inserted: Remove and reinsert the basket/drawer firmly until you hear or feel a click. Some Xiaomi models require a precise alignment to engage the safety switch.
- Inspect basket rails and latch: Check for bent metal, melted plastic, or food debris preventing full insertion. Clean the rails and latch area thoroughly.
- Listen for switch click: Slowly insert the basket while listening near the front or side of the unit. You should hear a small click from the microswitch when the basket is nearly fully in.
Internal inspection:
- Remove the outer housing panel near the basket area to locate the safety microswitch. It is usually a small rectangular switch actuated by a plastic lever connected to the basket.
- Check that the actuator lever is not broken and properly aligned with the basket.
- Verify the switch wiring connector is secure on the main board.
- For experienced users, test the switch with a multimeter for continuity when pressed and released.
Corrective actions:
- Clean and realign the basket and actuator so the switch is fully depressed when the basket is inserted.
- Replace the basket safety microswitch if it does not change state when actuated.
- If the switch works but E7 persists, the main control board input circuit may be faulty and require replacement.
