Possible Causes
Dust on heat exchanger burning off, Overheating pump or fan motor, Loose electrical connection, Failing PCB component
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: If you see smoke or suspect an electrical fire, turn off power immediately and do not use the boiler.
- New boiler smell: A slight smell on first use can be normal as oils and dust burn off. This should disappear after a few hours of operation.
- Visual inspection (qualified person): With power off, remove the front cover and inspect for discoloured plastic, melted insulation, or burnt PCB areas.
- Check ventilation: Ensure the boiler cupboard has adequate ventilation and is not used for storage that could block airflow.
- Component replacement: Any component showing signs of overheating (pump, fan, PCB) should be replaced by an engineer.
