Possible Causes
Failed DHW NTC sensor, Loose DHW sensor connector, Scale build-up on DHW sensor pocket, Damaged wiring to DHW sensor
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Isolate electrical power and allow hot water components to cool before touching.
- Check hot water sensor location: On Alpha combi boilers, the DHW NTC is usually mounted on the domestic hot water outlet or plate heat exchanger. Verify the sensor is firmly clipped and the cable is not strained.
- Connector and cable: Inspect the plug at the PCB and along the cable run for damage or disconnection.
- Descale (if accessible): Heavy limescale can insulate the sensor. A qualified engineer can remove the sensor pocket or plate heat exchanger and descale it using an appropriate descaling solution.
- Resistance test (qualified person): Measure the DHW NTC resistance at room temperature and compare with Alpha's chart. Replace if out of tolerance.
If E06 persists, the main PCB input circuit may be defective and should be checked by a professional.
