Possible Causes
Faulty gas valve coil, Stuck gas valve, Incorrect gas valve wiring, Faulty PCB gas valve driver
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn off gas and power. Only a qualified gas engineer should work directly on the gas valve.
- Check gas supply: Confirm that the gas isolation valve is open and that other gas appliances function correctly.
- Visual inspection: Look at the gas valve on the boiler. Ensure the electrical connector is fully engaged and there are no signs of burning or damage.
- Reset boiler: After confirming supply, reset the boiler according to the Alpha manual and observe if ignition occurs.
- Professional testing: A Gas Safe engineer can measure coil resistance, check operating voltage, and verify gas pressures. If the valve is stuck or coils are open-circuit, the gas valve must be replaced.
Do not attempt to dismantle or adjust the gas valve yourself.
