Possible Causes

Internal PCB failure, Burnt PCB tracks, Incorrect wiring to PCB, Moisture ingress on PCB

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Isolate the boiler at the mains before removing the front cover or PCB housing.

  • Power reset: Turn off the boiler at the fused spur for at least 60 seconds, then turn back on and check if E14 clears.
  • Visual inspection: A qualified person can inspect the PCB for signs of burning, swelling, or water damage. Any visible damage usually means the PCB must be replaced.
  • Check external wiring: Ensure no external controls (room thermostat, programmer) are incorrectly wired to the PCB terminals.
  • Moisture source: If there is evidence of water on the PCB, locate and repair the leak (e.g., from the automatic air vent or pump unions) before replacing the board.

PCB replacement and configuration must be carried out by an Alpha-trained engineer.
