Possible Causes
Leaking pump housing or seals, Corroded primary heat exchanger, Dripping pressure relief valve, Loose compression fittings on hydraulic block
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn off power and isolate the boiler from the water supply. If the leak is significant, also turn off the gas and do not use the boiler.
- Identify leak source: Remove the front cover (if user-removable) and use a torch to locate the origin of the leak. Check around the pump housing, pressure relief valve discharge pipe, and visible joints.
- Check pressure relief valve: If water is dripping from the PRV outlet pipe, the system may have been over-pressurised or the valve is damaged. Reducing system pressure may stop the leak, but a valve that continues to drip should be replaced by an engineer.
- Tighten fittings: Slightly tighten any accessible compression nuts on copper pipework, but do not overtighten plastic components.
- Corrosion or cracked parts: If the primary heat exchanger or hydraulic block is corroded or cracked, it must be replaced professionally.
- Dry and monitor: After any minor adjustment, dry the area and monitor for further leaks. Persistent leaks require professional repair.
