Possible Causes
Open thermostat circuit, Incorrect wiring to TT or demand terminals, Faulty zone control relay, Internal control board failure
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power before opening the control compartment.
- Check thermostat: Ensure the thermostat is set to HEAT and the setpoint is above room temperature. Replace batteries if applicable.
- Inspect TT wiring: At the boiler, locate the thermostat (TT) or demand terminals on the Burnham control. Verify the low-voltage wires are firmly attached and not broken.
- Bypass test (for hydronic pros/competent DIYers): With power off, temporarily connect a jumper wire across the TT terminals. Restore power. If the boiler now fires without Err 10, the issue is in the thermostat or external controls.
- Check zone controls: If you have a Taco, Honeywell, or other zone control panel, verify its power and indicator lights. A failed relay may not be sending a call for heat to the boiler.
- Restore proper wiring: Remove the jumper and reconnect the thermostat or zone panel correctly. If Err 10 persists even with a direct jumper, the boiler control board may be defective and require replacement.
