Possible Causes

Failed DHW NTC sensor, Loose sensor connection on DHW outlet, Scale buildup affecting sensor contact, Damaged sensor wiring

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Turn off power and close the cold water supply to the boiler if removing any DHW components.

  • Locate DHW sensor: On Crown combi boilers, the DHW sensor is usually mounted on the DHW outlet pipe or plate heat exchanger.
  • Inspect wiring and connector: Ensure the sensor plug is secure at both the sensor and control board.
  • Check for leaks: Look for any water seepage around the sensor or DHW connections that could damage the sensor.
  • Descale (if applicable): Heavy scale in hard water areas can cause erratic DHW temperatures. A professional should descale the plate heat exchanger and verify sensor readings.
  • Reset: After inspection, restore power and reset. If E11 remains, replace the DHW sensor.
