Possible Causes

Blocked condensate trap, Frozen external condensate pipe, Sagging or incorrectly routed condensate pipework, Debris in condensate outlet

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Isolate power. Condensate is mildly acidic; wear gloves and eye protection when handling.

  • Check external pipe: Inspect the external condensate discharge pipe from the CTC boiler. In cold weather, look for ice blockages. Thaw gently with warm (not boiling) water or a warm cloth.
  • Inspect condensate trap: Remove the boiler front cover and locate the condensate trap. Place a container beneath and carefully remove the trap. Empty and rinse with clean water to remove sludge.
  • Check hoses: Ensure internal condensate hoses are not kinked or blocked. Refit securely to prevent leaks.
  • Reassemble and test: Refit the trap, restore power, and reset the boiler. Observe for normal operation and absence of leaks.
