Possible Causes
System overpressure due to failed expansion vessel, Safety valve setpoint too low or faulty, Debris on safety valve seat, Overfilled system
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Hot water and steam can cause severe burns. Keep clear of the discharge and allow system to cool where possible.
- Check system pressure: Read the pressure gauge. If above design, isolate the fill valve and slowly drain water until pressure is normal.
- Inspect expansion vessel: Test the air charge and replace or recharge if the diaphragm has failed.
- Exercise safety valve: When cool and pressure is safe, briefly lift the test lever on the Danstoker-installed safety valve to flush debris. If it continues to leak, replacement is required.
- Verify setpoint: Ensure the safety valve rating matches the boiler design pressure.
Persistent discharge indicates a system design or control issue that should be reviewed by a heating engineer.
