Possible Causes
Leaking Defro plate heat exchanger, Dripping automatic air vent on Defro boiler, Loose union on hydraulic block, Corroded primary heat exchanger on Defro unit
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Isolate power and close isolation valves. Water inside the boiler can damage electronics.
- Inspect leak tray: Remove the front cover and check the base of the Defro boiler for standing water or a wet leak sensor.
- Identify source: Look above the wet area for drips from joints, pump, air vent, or heat exchangers. Use a dry cloth to wipe and observe where water reappears.
- Tighten joints: Carefully tighten any accessible compression or union fittings that are weeping. Do not overtighten plastic components.
- Dry the tray: Once the leak is addressed, dry the leak tray and sensor thoroughly with absorbent cloths.
- Restore and monitor: Restore power and observe the boiler during operation for further leaks. If the primary or plate heat exchanger is leaking, it must be replaced by a qualified technician.
