Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Isolate electrical power immediately if water is leaking near electrical components. Allow the boiler to cool before touching any pipework.
User checks:
- Place a tray or towel under the boiler to contain water and prevent damage.
- Check the pressure gauge; if pressure is dropping rapidly, turn off the boiler and close the isolation valves on the flow and return (if fitted).
- Do not remove the boiler case unless the manual states it is a user-removable front panel.
Engineer checks:
- Remove the front panel and inspect all visible joints, pump, and valves for signs of leakage.
- Check the primary heat exchanger on the EHC boiler for corrosion or pinhole leaks.
- Inspect the pressure relief valve and discharge pipe; if the valve is passing, replace it and investigate overpressure causes.
- Tighten or remake any weeping compression joints using new olives if necessary.
Do not ignore leaks; they can damage the PCB and other components and lead to unsafe operation.
