Possible Causes
Seized or failed circulation pump, Airlock in primary circuit, Blocked system filter or strainers, Closed isolation valves
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn off power and allow the system to cool before working on the pump or pipework.
User checks:
- Verify system pressure is adequate (1.0–1.5 bar cold).
- Bleed radiators to remove trapped air.
Engineer checks:
- Check that the EHC boiler pump receives power when there is a demand; if powered but not running, free the pump shaft or replace the pump.
- Bleed the pump via the bleed screw to remove air.
- Inspect any magnetic filter or strainer on the return for sludge; clean thoroughly.
- Ensure all isolation valves around the boiler and pump are open.
After restoring circulation, reset the boiler and monitor operation to confirm E09 does not return.
