Possible Causes
Seized circulation pump, Airlocked pump, Failed pump capacitor, No power to pump from PCB
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Isolate electrical power and allow the boiler to cool. Water inside the boiler can be very hot.
- Check for airlock: If the pump has a vent screw, carefully loosen it with a cloth ready to catch any water. A small amount of water and trapped air may escape. Retighten once water flows steadily.
- Try to free the pump: With power off, use a screwdriver in the pump shaft slot (under the vent plug) to gently turn the rotor. If it is stuck, work it back and forth until it moves freely.
- Check electrical supply: Restore power briefly and, using a multimeter (qualified persons only), verify that the pump is receiving the correct voltage when there is a call for heat.
- Listen for operation: A healthy pump will hum and the flow pipes will gradually warm. If voltage is present but the pump does not run or is excessively noisy, the pump or its capacitor is likely faulty.
- Replace pump: If the pump is seized or electrically open, replace it with the specified Elnur circulation pump assembly. Drain and refill the system as required, then bleed thoroughly.
