Possible Causes
Leaking heating element gasket, Loose compression fittings, Corroded internal pipework, Faulty automatic air vent
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Isolate electrical power immediately. Water and electricity together are dangerous. Allow the boiler to cool before working on it.
- Identify leak source: Remove the front panel and carefully inspect all visible joints, valves, and the element flange for signs of water.
- Tighten fittings: Gently tighten any weeping compression joints. Do not overtighten, as this can damage olives and pipes.
- Check automatic air vent: If the air vent is leaking from the cap, ensure the cap is slightly open (as designed) but not cracked. Replace the vent if it continues to leak.
- Element gasket: If water is seeping around the heating element flange, the gasket may have failed. The boiler will need to be drained and the gasket replaced.
- Dry and test: After repairs, dry all components, refill and bleed the system, then restore power and monitor for further leaks.
