Possible Causes
Failed igniter or transformer, Incorrect electrode spacing, Loose ignition wiring, Defective ignition cable
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Isolate power and fuel. Ignition components operate at very high voltage.
- 1. Visual inspection: Remove burner cover on the Energy Kinetics boiler. Look for cracked porcelain on electrodes or igniter, burned ignition wires, or loose terminals. Tighten and secure all connections.
- 2. Check electrode gap (oil): Using the burner manufacturer's spec (Beckett, Carlin, or Riello), verify electrode spacing and position relative to the nozzle. Adjust carefully if you have the correct template; otherwise, leave to a technician.
- 3. Replace igniter if suspect: If there is no visible spark during trial (only to be checked by a qualified person with proper precautions), the igniter/transformer may need replacement.
Because of shock and fire risk, ignition troubleshooting beyond basic visual checks should be performed by a qualified technician.
