Possible Causes
Dirty or misaligned flame sensor, Faulty ignition transformer or igniter, Incorrect electrode or igniter gap, Blocked nozzle or gas orifice
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Disconnect power and shut off fuel before servicing burner components.
- 1. Clean and inspect flame sensor: Remove the cad cell (oil) or flame rod (gas) from the burner on the Energy Kinetics boiler. Clean with a soft cloth and ensure the sensor is positioned correctly in the flame path when reinstalled.
- 2. Check ignition components: Inspect the ignition transformer/igniter and electrodes (oil) or spark igniter (gas) for cracks, carbon tracking, or loose connections. Tighten terminals and replace damaged parts.
- 3. Verify nozzle or gas orifice: For oil burners, replace the nozzle with the exact specification listed on the Energy Kinetics data plate. For gas burners, ensure the orifice is not blocked and that gas pressure is within spec (requires gauges and should be done by a pro).
If NO FLAME persists after cleaning and visual checks, a technician should verify flame signal strength, ignition voltage, and combustion setup.
