Possible Causes

Failed expansion vessel on Fondital boiler, Faulty 3 bar safety valve, Corroded primary heat exchanger, Loose union or gasket on hydraulic group

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Turn off power to the boiler. If the leak is significant, close the cold water inlet and heating isolation valves. Beware of hot water and surfaces.

User checks:

  • Identify source area: Place a dry cloth or paper under the boiler to see where water drips from (front, rear, left, right). Do not remove covers.
  • Check pressure: Look at the pressure gauge. If it rises above 2.5–3 bar when heating, the expansion vessel may have failed.
  • Discharge pipe: If water is dripping from the copper safety discharge pipe outside, the safety valve is opening due to overpressure.

Technician actions:

  • Test and recharge or replace the expansion vessel on the Fondital boiler.
  • Replace a leaking or weak 3 bar safety valve.
  • Inspect and tighten unions on the hydraulic group and replace any damaged gaskets.
  • Check the primary heat exchanger for corrosion or pinhole leaks and replace if necessary.
