Possible Causes

No oil at burner due to blocked oil filter, Air in oil line, Faulty ignition transformer, Stuck or failed oil solenoid valve

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Isolate power and oil supply before working on the burner. Only qualified oil engineers should open fuel components.

User checks:

  • Confirm oil level in the tank and that the oil isolation valve is open.
  • Check for obvious damage or kinks in the oil supply line to the Grant boiler.

Engineer checks:

  • Inspect and replace the oil line filter (often a Tigerloop or inline filter on Grant installations) if contaminated.
  • Bleed the oil pump to remove air, using the bleed screw while running the burner.
  • Test the ignition transformer output and HT leads; replace if weak or intermittent spark is detected.
  • Check the oil solenoid valve coil for correct resistance and operation; replace the valve or coil if faulty.

Do not attempt to adjust oil pump pressure or combustion settings without proper equipment and training.
