Boiler leaking water from the bottom of the cabinet or from piping connections near the unit.
Safety Warning
This repair may involve working with high voltage components or water connections. Always unplug the appliance before removing any panels.
If you are not confident in your ability to perform this repair safely, we strongly recommend contacting a professional technician.
Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn off power and close the water supply to the boiler. Hot water can cause burns.
- Identify leak source: Remove the front cover and use a flashlight to trace drips upward. Check around the pressure relief valve, pump flanges, unions, and heat exchanger connections.
- Check relief valve: If water is discharging from the relief valve outlet pipe, system pressure may be too high or the valve may be faulty. Verify pressure on the gauge.
- Tighten fittings: Gently tighten any accessible union nuts or threaded connections that are seeping. Do not overtighten.
- Condensate vs. system water: Determine if the leak is clear condensate from the trap/line or system water with inhibitor. Condensate leaks often occur at the trap or plastic tubing.
Persistent leaks, especially from the heat exchanger or relief valve, should be addressed by a technician who can replace gaskets, valves, or the exchanger as needed.
