Possible Causes

Failed fan speed sensor (Hall sensor), Obstructed fan wheel, Loose fan connector, Defective control board fan driver

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Disconnect power before accessing the fan assembly.

  • Inspect fan wheel: Remove the front cover and visually inspect the combustion fan wheel for dust buildup, foreign objects, or damage.
  • Check wiring: Ensure the multi-pin connector from the fan to the control board is fully seated and free of corrosion.
  • Spin test: With power off, gently spin the fan wheel by hand. It should rotate smoothly without grinding.
  • Reset and test: Restore power and reset the boiler. If E12 returns, the fan or control board may be defective.

Replacement of the combustion fan or control board should be performed by a qualified technician, as incorrect operation affects combustion safety.
