Possible Causes

Faulty room thermostat or wiring, Stuck diverter valve (on combi), Motorised zone valve failure, Pump not circulating to heating circuit

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Electrical checks on controls should be done by a competent person. Do not open wiring centres if unsure.

  • Check programmer and thermostat: Ensure heating is set to 'ON' and the room thermostat is turned up.
  • Feel pipes: Carefully feel the flow and return pipes near the boiler. If they are hot but radiators are cold, a zone valve or diverter may be stuck.
  • Check motorised valves: If accessible, feel the pipes either side of any external motorised valves. A cold pipe after the valve when heating is on suggests a stuck valve.
  • Engineer tasks: The engineer will test the room thermostat circuit, check the diverter valve on Intergas combis, test external zone valves, and verify pump operation.
