Possible Causes

Leaking pump gland, Corroded primary heat exchanger, Dripping automatic air vent, Loose compression fittings on flow/return

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Turn off power to the IVT boiler and close the system isolation valves. Place a container under the leak and protect surrounding electrics from water.

Steps:

  • Remove the front cover (if permitted) and visually trace the source of the leak using a torch.
  • If the leak is from a compression joint, a technician can gently tighten the nut or remake the joint with new olives.
  • If water is seeping from the pump body or gland, the pump or cartridge should be replaced.
  • Leaks from the automatic air vent can often be cured by replacing the vent or its cap.
  • If the primary heat exchanger is leaking, it must be replaced; this is usually an advanced repair.

Do not continue to operate the boiler with an active leak, as it can damage the PCB and other components.
