Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power and allow the boiler to cool. Exhaust gases are hazardous; ensure good ventilation while working.
- Inspect exterior terminations: Go outside and locate the boiler's exhaust and intake terminations. Remove any snow, ice, leaves, or debris. Ensure screens are clear and not clogged.
- Check vent slope and support: Inside, visually inspect the vent piping. Confirm it is properly supported and sloped back to the boiler or condensate drain as specified by Lochinvar. Correct any low spots where condensate can collect.
- Look for damage: Check for crushed, cracked, or disconnected vent sections. Replace damaged PVC/CPVC or polypropylene vent components with materials approved by Lochinvar.
- Verify condensate drain: Ensure the condensate trap and drain line are clear so condensate does not back up into the flue. Clean and flush as needed.
- Reset and test: After clearing obstructions, restore power and reset the boiler. Monitor operation for recurrence of F.08.
Professional help: If the error persists, a technician should perform a full venting system evaluation and verify combustion blower performance.
