Possible Causes
Unstable gas supply, Blocked burner or injector, Faulty gas valve, Intermittent ionisation signal
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Gas-related diagnostics must be performed by a Gas Safe engineer. Do not repeatedly reset a boiler that loses flame during operation.
- Observe pattern: Note if E14 occurs only when other gas appliances are used or at certain times of day, which may indicate supply issues.
- Check flue and ventilation: Ensure the Main flue terminal is unobstructed and that any required ventilation openings are not blocked.
- Engineer tasks:
- Check gas inlet pressure and dynamic pressure while the boiler is firing.
- Inspect and clean the burner and injectors on the Main heat exchanger.
- Test the gas valve modulation and replace the Main gas valve if it fails to maintain stable pressure.
- Verify the ionisation probe signal during operation and replace if intermittent.
