How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power and gas before inspecting the burner or flame rod.
- Step 1 – Inspect flame rod: Remove the flame rod and check for carbon tracking, cracks, or moisture. Clean and dry thoroughly, then reinstall.
- Step 2 – Check wiring: Ensure the flame rod wire is not pinched or touching metal surfaces that could cause a false flame signal.
- Step 3 – Dry combustion chamber: If there is evidence of water or condensate in the combustion chamber, inspect the condensate trap and venting for leaks or blockages and correct them.
- Step 4 – PCB evaluation: If E302 persists with a clean, dry flame rod and good wiring, the PCB flame detection circuit may be faulty and require replacement.
Do not bypass flame safety circuits; they are critical for safe operation.
