Possible Causes

Blocked condensate drain line, Full or clogged condensate trap, Saturated condensate neutralizer media, Frozen condensate line

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Turn OFF power before working on the condensate system. Condensate is mildly acidic; wear gloves and eye protection.

  • 1. Inspect condensate line: Trace the clear or white plastic condensate hose from the Noritz boiler to the drain. Look for kinks, sags filled with water, or visible blockages. Straighten and clear as needed.
  • 2. Check condensate trap: Locate the condensate trap at the base of the boiler. Remove it per the manual, empty any debris or sludge, rinse with clean water, and reinstall securely to prevent leaks.
  • 3. Examine neutralizer: If your installation includes a condensate neutralizer cartridge, check if it is full of water or media is disintegrated. Replace the neutralizer if saturated or clogged.
  • 4. Protect from freezing: In cold climates, ensure the condensate line is insulated and pitched properly to prevent freezing. Thaw frozen sections carefully with warm towels; do not use open flame.
  • 5. Test operation: Restore power and run the boiler. If error 29 returns, the internal condensate sensor or pressure switch may require replacement by a technician.
