Condensation / Venting Appearance Issue
Boiler runs but produces visible white steam or excessive condensation at vent termination
Advertisements
Possible Causes
Normal operation in cold weather, Short vent termination, Improper vent slope causing pooling, High humidity exhaust
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Visible vapor is often normal for condensing boilers, but pooling condensate can damage structures.
- Check vent slope: Ensure horizontal vent sections are sloped per NTI instructions to drain condensate back to the boiler or to an approved drain.
- Inspect termination: Confirm the vent outlet is located per code clearances from windows, doors, and walkways.
- Monitor for leaks: Look for condensate dripping from joints; reseal or replace fittings as needed.
