Possible Causes

Open or shorted supply temperature sensor, damaged sensor wiring, failed control input

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn off power before accessing the control compartment.

Steps:

  • Locate the sensor: Find the supply water temperature sensor on the outlet piping or heat exchanger of the Peerless boiler. It is usually a small probe or thermistor with two wires.
  • Inspect wiring: Check for broken insulation, loose connectors, or corrosion at the sensor and at the control board terminals.
  • Check resistance: With power off, disconnect the sensor and measure its resistance with a multimeter. Compare to Peerless temperature/resistance chart (e.g., at 77°F an NTC sensor may be ~10kΩ). If reading is open or shorted, replace the sensor.
  • Reconnect and reset: After repair, reconnect the sensor, restore power, and reset the boiler.
  • If E6 persists: The control board sensor input may be defective and require replacement by a technician.
