Possible Causes

Failed inducer motor, seized fan wheel, faulty fan relay on control board, blocked fan housing

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Disconnect power. Do not attempt to force the fan to run with power applied.

Steps:

  • Access inducer: Remove the combustion cover to access the inducer fan assembly.
  • Check for obstruction: Inspect the fan wheel for debris, insulation, or broken pieces. Remove any obstruction.
  • Spin test: Rotate the fan wheel by hand. It should spin freely without grinding. If stiff or seized, the inducer must be replaced.
  • Check wiring: Verify the inducer motor plug is fully seated and wires are not burned.
  • If motor does not start: A technician should test voltage at the inducer terminals when there is a call for heat. If proper voltage is present and the motor does not run, replace the inducer assembly.
