Possible Causes

Leaking pump housing, Corroded primary heat exchanger, Dripping automatic air vent, Loose compression fittings

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn off power at the fused spur and close the boiler isolation valves if accessible. Place a container or towels under the leak to protect property.

User checks:

  • Identify approximate leak location (front, left, right) without removing the sealed combustion chamber cover.
  • Check system pressure; if it is dropping rapidly, do not continue to run the boiler.

Engineer checks:

  • Remove the boiler case and inspect all visible joints, pump, and valves for signs of water staining.
  • Tighten any loose compression fittings and replace fibre washers where necessary.
  • Replace a leaking automatic air vent or pump housing.
  • If the primary heat exchanger is leaking, replace the heat exchanger or consider boiler replacement depending on age and cost.

Any leak inside the boiler should be addressed promptly to prevent PCB and electrical damage.
