Possible Causes
Failed main PCB, Burnt or damaged PCB tracks, Moisture damage to electronics, Incorrect supply polarity or voltage
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Isolate the boiler from the mains before inspecting any electrical components.
User checks:
- Confirm that the fused spur is supplying a stable 230V and that the fuse has not blown.
- Reset the boiler once after confirming power supply.
Engineer checks:
- Inspect the main PCB for visible damage, burn marks, or corrosion.
- Verify correct polarity, earth, and voltage at the boiler terminals.
- Check for signs of water ingress from above (e.g., leaking flue or pipework) and rectify the source.
- If PCB is confirmed faulty, replace with the correct Potterton PCB and transfer any configuration links or jumpers as per manual.
PCB replacement should only be carried out by a competent engineer due to safety and configuration requirements.
