Possible Causes

Oversized Raypak boiler for load, Incorrect control settings (differential too tight), Faulty temperature sensor causing rapid shutdown, Low water volume or no buffer tank

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Adjustments should be made with power OFF when accessing internal controls.

Steps:

  • 1. Check thermostat and setpoints: Ensure the thermostat is not located in a drafty area or directly above a heat source. Verify boiler setpoint and differential are set per Raypak recommendations.
  • 2. Inspect sensors: Confirm inlet and outlet sensors are properly installed and reading correctly. Replace any faulty sensors.
  • 3. Evaluate system volume: In small systems, adding a buffer tank or increasing water volume may be necessary to reduce cycling (professional design change).

Persistent short cycling can reduce boiler life and should be evaluated by a heating professional.
