Boiler shows A06; ignition sequence may not start, or control indicates low gas pressure.
Safety Warning
This repair may involve working with high voltage components or water connections. Always unplug the appliance before removing any panels.
If you are not confident in your ability to perform this repair safely, we strongly recommend contacting a professional technician.
Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Critical safety: Gas pressure issues must be handled carefully. If you smell gas, shut off the gas supply, turn off power, evacuate the area, and contact your gas supplier or emergency services.
User-level checks:
- 1. Confirm gas valves are open: Verify the main gas cock at the boiler and any upstream shutoff valves are fully open (handle parallel to the pipe).
- 2. Check other gas appliances: See if stoves, water heaters, or other gas equipment are operating normally. If multiple appliances are affected, contact your gas utility.
- 3. Look for obvious regulator issues: If there is an outdoor regulator, check for ice buildup, physical damage, or tampering. Do not attempt to adjust regulator settings yourself.
Technician-level checks (do not attempt unless qualified):
- Measure inlet and manifold gas pressure while the boiler is firing and compare to Raypak specifications.
- Verify gas line sizing and length are adequate for the boiler input.
- Inspect and test the gas valve for proper operation.
If A06 appears intermittently during high demand periods, it is often a supply or piping sizing issue that requires a licensed gas fitter to correct.
