Possible Causes
Failed system circulator pump, Pump relay failure on control board, Seized pump due to debris, Incorrect pump wiring
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn OFF power. Pumps can start unexpectedly; lock out power if possible.
Steps:
- 1. Feel the pump: Carefully touch the circulator housing. If it is very hot and not vibrating, it may be seized. If it is cold and silent during a call for heat, it may not be receiving power.
- 2. Check pump isolation valves: Ensure valves on either side of the pump are open to allow flow.
- 3. Inspect wiring: Verify the pump is wired to the correct terminals on the Raypak control or external relay. Look for loose connections or burnt wires.
- 4. Bleed air: Some pumps have a vent plug. With power off and system pressure relieved as needed, open the plug slightly to release trapped air, then retighten.
If A61 persists and the pump does not run, the pump motor or control relay likely needs replacement by a technician.
