Boiler condensate pipe repeatedly freezes in cold weather

Safety first: Do not use boiling water or naked flames to thaw pipes. Turn off the boiler if condensate cannot drain.

• Thaw pipe safely: Pour warm (not boiling) water over the external condensate pipe or wrap it with warm towels until ice melts.
• Insulate pipe: Fit suitable weatherproof insulation to the external section of the condensate pipe to reduce future freezing.
• Engineer tasks: Re-route or upsize the condensate pipe according to Remeha and local regulations, minimise external runs, and ensure adequate fall to the drain.
