Possible Causes
Power surge damaging EEPROM on main PCB, Incorrect parameter programming, Failed main control PCB
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power before accessing the control board.
- Step 1 – Power cycle: Turn off the boiler at the breaker for at least 5 minutes, then restore power. Sometimes transient memory errors clear on reboot.
- Step 2 – Check supply quality: Ensure the boiler is on a stable power supply, preferably with surge protection. Correct any known electrical issues.
- Step 3 – Parameter reset: Using the installer menu (refer to Rheem manual), perform a factory reset of control parameters if allowed. Re-enter any site-specific settings.
- Step 4 – PCB replacement: If E19 persists, the main control PCB’s memory may be damaged. Replace the PCB with a new, correctly programmed Rheem board.
Warning: Incorrect parameter settings after a reset can cause improper operation. Only qualified personnel should adjust combustion or system parameters.
