Possible Causes
Seized pump rotor, Failed pump motor, Air lock in pump, Blocked pump or system filter
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Isolate power and allow the system to cool. Some water spillage may occur when working on the pump.
- Check pump operation: When there is a heat demand, listen for the pump running. If silent, the pump may be seized or not powered.
- Free a stuck rotor: On some pumps, you can remove the central screw and gently turn the rotor with a screwdriver to free it. Replace the screw and check for leaks.
- Bleed air: Loosen the pump vent screw slightly to release trapped air, then retighten.
- Clean system filter: If a magnetic or mesh filter is installed on the return, clean it to restore flow.
- Replace pump: If the pump does not run despite power being present, it will need replacement by a professional.
