Possible Causes
Tripped circuit breaker, Faulty service switch, Loose line voltage connections, Blown internal fuse on control board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Before touching wiring, turn off the breaker feeding the boiler. Only qualified persons should work on line voltage.
- Check breaker and switch: Verify the boiler's circuit breaker is ON and the boiler service switch (often mounted near the unit) is in the ON position.
- Test outlet or junction box: If the boiler is cord-connected, plug a lamp into the outlet to confirm power. For hardwired units, a qualified person should test for 120 VAC at the boiler's junction box.
- Inspect internal fuse: Remove the front panel and locate any fuses on the Utica control board. If a fuse is blown, replace it only with the same type and rating. If it blows again immediately, there is a short that must be diagnosed.
- Check wiring connections: Tighten any loose wire nuts or terminal screws on the line voltage side.
- If still dead: The control board or transformer may have failed and should be tested and replaced by a technician.
