Utica
Blocked Air Intake / Combustion Air Fault
Boiler displays E11 and shuts down immediately after call for heat

Possible Causes
Obstructed intake pipe, Collapsed intake elbow, Ice or snow blocking intake termination, Intake pipe too long or improperly sloped
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power and gas. Do not operate the boiler with a suspected combustion air blockage.
- Inspect intake piping: Trace the combustion air intake pipe from the Utica boiler to the outside. Look for crushed sections, disconnected joints, or water accumulation in low spots.
- Check outdoor termination: Outside, verify the intake hood or concentric vent is clear of snow, ice, leaves, or insect screens clogged with debris. Clear obstructions carefully.
- Verify slope: Ensure the intake pipe is sloped back toward the boiler as specified by Utica to prevent water pooling. Correct any obvious sags.
- Reset and test: After clearing and correcting the intake, restore power and gas, then reset the boiler. If E11 persists, the air pressure switch or fan proving system may be at fault and should be checked by a technician.
