Possible Causes
Failed combustion blower motor, Seized blower wheel, Loose or damaged blower wiring, Faulty fan relay on control board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power and gas. The blower area may contain sharp edges.
- Access blower assembly: Remove the front panel and any inner cover to expose the combustion blower on the Utica boiler.
- Check wiring: Inspect the blower motor harness and plug. Reseat connectors and look for burned or discolored terminals.
- Spin test: With power off, gently spin the blower wheel by hand. It should rotate freely without scraping. If seized or noisy, the blower assembly likely needs replacement.
- Voltage check (advanced): With power on and a call for heat, a qualified person can measure voltage at the blower connector to confirm if the control is sending power. If voltage is present but the blower does not run, the motor is defective.
- Replace blower if needed: Follow Utica's replacement procedure. Ensure gasket surfaces are sealed to prevent flue gas leakage.
