Possible Causes
Loose low-voltage harness, Damaged communication cable, Faulty display module, Defective main control board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power to the boiler before unplugging any connectors.
- Inspect low-voltage wiring: Remove the front panel and locate the low-voltage terminal strip and communication harness between the display (user interface) and the main control board on the Utica boiler.
- Reseat connectors: Carefully unplug and replug the communication cable connectors at both the display and the control board to ensure a solid connection.
- Check cable condition: Look for pinched, abraded, or chewed (rodent damage) cable sections. Replace the cable if any conductors are exposed or broken.
- Power cycle: Restore power and see if the E7 clears. If the display remains blank or error persists, the display module or main control may be defective.
- Module replacement: Replacement of the user interface or main control board should follow Utica's service procedures and is best done by a qualified technician to ensure correct configuration.
