Possible Causes

Failed fan motor on Weishaupt burner, Faulty fan capacitor (on single-phase fans), Loose electrical connections to fan, Defective fan relay on control board

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Isolate power before working on the fan or control wiring.

  • Check power to fan: With a multimeter and the boiler calling for heat, verify if 230 V (or specified voltage) is present at the fan terminals. Only a qualified person should perform live tests.
  • Inspect wiring and plug: Ensure the fan connector is fully seated and that wires are not burnt or damaged.
  • Check fan rotation: With power off, spin the fan impeller by hand. It should rotate freely without scraping. If stiff or seized, the fan must be replaced.
  • Replace capacitor (if fitted): On some Weishaupt fans, a run capacitor is mounted nearby. If the fan hums but does not start, the capacitor may be faulty. Replace with the exact µF rating specified.

When to call a professional: If there is no voltage at the fan or if the control board relay is suspected, contact an authorised technician.
