Possible Causes
Leaking pump housing or seals, Corroded primary heat exchanger, Leaking automatic air vent, Loose compression fittings on flow/return
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Switch off power and close the system isolation valves if accessible. Place a container or towels to catch water. Risk of electrical short and corrosion.
- Identify leak source (visual only): Remove the front cover if you are competent and allowed to do so. Look for drips from the pump, air vent, or pipe joints.
- Do not overtighten fittings: Over-tightening can worsen leaks. Only gently nip up accessible compression nuts if clearly loose.
- Check pressure: Note the system pressure; a constant drop indicates a significant leak.
- Call a heating engineer: They will pressure-test the system, replace leaking components (pump, air vent, seals, or heat exchanger), and ensure no water has damaged the PCB.
