How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power if you smell gas and call the gas emergency number. Do not tamper with gas valve or burner.
- Check other gas appliances: If they also cut out, there may be a supply issue.
- Inspect flue terminal: From outside, ensure no obstructions (bird guard, leaves, snow) are restricting flue gases.
- Check condensate drain: Make sure the condensate pipe is not blocked or frozen; thaw gently if frozen and ensure the trap is not overflowing.
- If fault recurs: A Gas Safe engineer should check combustion, clean/replace the ionisation electrode, verify gas valve modulation, and ensure correct flue installation and air supply.
