Carpet cleaner powers on but motor does not run; E2 appears shortly after attempting to start cleaning.

Safety first: Unplug the AEG carpet cleaner before opening any panels.

• Allow motor to cool: If the unit stopped mid-use and shows E2, leave it unplugged for at least 30–45 minutes. Many AEG motors have a thermal protector that resets when cooled.
• Check for blockages: Remove the dirty water tank, hose, and floor nozzle. Inspect the suction path, brush head, and hose for clogs (hair, carpet fibers, debris). Clear any obstructions that could cause motor overload.
• Inspect motor area for dust buildup: Remove the lower housing to access the suction motor. Clean lint and dust from the motor vents using a soft brush and vacuum. Blocked ventilation can cause overheating.
• Test motor continuity: With the motor disconnected, use a multimeter to check continuity across the motor terminals. An open circuit indicates a failed motor or thermal cut-out. If the thermal cut-out is separate, test it individually and replace if open when cool.
• Check carbon brushes (if applicable): On brush-type motors, remove the brush holders and inspect the carbon brushes. If they are worn down to a few millimeters or uneven, replace them with AEG-compatible brushes.

If the motor windings are open or the motor emits a burning smell, replace the entire suction motor assembly.
