Possible Causes
Stretched or glazed brush belt, Worn brush roll end caps, Debris in brush bearings, Weak brush motor
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug before working near the brush area.
- 1. Inspect belt tension: Remove the brush drive belt and compare it to a new belt if available. If it is loose, shiny, or cracked, replace it.
- 2. Check brush bearings: Remove the brush roll and spin the end caps by hand. If they feel gritty or stiff, clean out hair and debris. Replace the brush roll if the bearings are worn.
- 3. Clean brush housing: Remove any buildup of carpet fibers or detergent residue in the brush chamber that could increase drag.
- 4. Evaluate motor strength: If a new belt and clean brush still stall easily, the brush motor may be weak and should be replaced.
